BISP Dynamic Registry

In 2011, the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) established Pakistan’s first National Economic and Social Registry (NSER), conducting a door-to-door survey that collected socio-economic data from 27 million households. This comprehensive database has since underpinned various social security programs, aiding efforts to reduce poverty. However, as inflation rises, many individuals face increasing difficulties meeting basic needs, highlighting the continuing importance of robust social support systems.

National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER)

The questions asked in the NSER survey determine your eligibility for the Benazir Income Support Program. Following the relaunch of the NSER survey, over 600 BISP NSER Registration Dynamic Registry Centers have been established across Pakistan to facilitate this process. These centers are where you can complete the survey and find out if you qualify for the program or not.

Eligibility Criteria

What are NSER indicators, and which households are enrolled in the NSER? The National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) uses a specific set of 24 indicators to determine eligibility for the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). During the NSER survey, you’ll need to provide detailed information about your household, including the total number of members, the number of earners, and the education levels of all household members. This data helps determine whether you qualify for BISP or not.

BISP NSER Registration New Update

Step#1: Economic social status

To determine your socio-economic status, the survey will ask about your monthly expenses and income. It will also inquire about your family’s total income, excluding household expenses, and seek information about individual family members.

Step#2: Educational standard

The survey will inquire about the educational standards of your children, asking whether they attend college or school, and whether they are enrolled in a government or private institution. It will gather detailed information about the type of institution where your children are studying.

Step#3: Leaving school (Primary, Middle or Secondary)

The survey will ask if your children are currently in school or if they have dropped out, and for how long. If they dropped out, it will inquire about the reasons and the level at which they left—whether primary, middle, or secondary school. Additionally, children’s school attendance will be checked, with a minimum of 70% attendance required. This information can determine eligibility for educational scholarships for your children.

Step#4: Out-of-school children between the ages of five and 17

The survey will gather information about your children who are not attending school, focusing on those aged between five and 17 years. You’ll be asked why these children are not receiving an education. The questions will aim to understand whether financial difficulties or other reasons are preventing them from going to school. This information helps assess educational needs and barriers within your household.

Step#5: Adult literacy level

You’ll need to provide complete information about the literacy level of the adults in your household.

Step#6: All information about the job

The survey will collect information about your employment, including whether you work in a government or semi-government organization, along with details about the specific organization. You will also need to provide information on your salary and indicate whether your employment is temporary or permanent.
