Lahore, Punjab weather update; rains, hailstorms likely this week

Punjab weather update: LAHORE – Intermittent rain-wind/thunderstorm and scattered hail are likely to occur over parts of Lahore and All District of Punjab during this week.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly is prevailing over the western parts of Pakistan. It will grip most of the upper parts of the country on April 26.

Under the influence of these conditions, dry weather is expected in most districts of the province on Wednesday night. However, partly cloudy weather with rain-wind/thunderstorm/drizzle is expected over Murree, Galliat and surrounding areas.

On Thursday, light rain/drizzle is expected in Murree and Galyat. Rain-Wind/Thunderstorm is expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakar, Leyya, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar.

From April 26 to April 29, rain-wind/thunderstorm with few moderate to heavy falls is expected over Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur. Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan and Sahiwal.

Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bhakar, Layya, Multan, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar are also likely to experience rain-wind/thunderstorm with occasional gaps from April 26 to 28. Hail is also expected at isolated places during the period.

Heavy rains may trigger landslides in Muri and Galayat. Wind storms/hail storms and lightning can affect human lives, standing crops, loose structures like electric poles and solar panels. Farmers are advised to manage their crops keeping in view the weather conditions. Travelers are advised to avoid non-essential travel during this period. Temperatures are likely to drop during wet spells.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will be between 31-33 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 30-32 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Meanwhile, Lahore and most districts of the province experienced dry weather during the last 24 hours.

Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in the province with a maximum temperature of 38 C. was registered. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 68 percent.

Lahore recorded a maximum temperature of 32 degrees. In the evening, the relative humidity was recorded at 54 percent.
